I was contemplating having both my knees replaced at once when my wife convinced me that I needed to get my knees and legs in shape before surgery. We asked friends for trainers they knew. Alana came highly recommended. She worked with me for three months before my surgery. She was knowledgeable, listened to what I needed and was pleasant to work with. Alana is a terrific motivator, not only by example, but also by helping you to believe that you too can improve your health. Although losing weight is an important goal for me, it is in the end, about improving my overall health. I know that, at every level, it's working.

My prime concern has been to strengthen my leg, in preparation for a future knee replacement. My aim is to be a better candidate for surgery, and to have a better result, with a shorter recovery time. When I started working with Alana, my knee was swollen, and I was amazed at the improvement in a relatively short time. This has meant less pain, the ability to walk greater distances, and to do it without a cane. I am very grateful to her for this.

Alana tailors your workout for you alone. She is extremely careful to protect you from injuries. She is also experienced in working with older people as well as those with physical disabilities, so that she understands the limitations and common problems.

Alana is a caring and knowledgeable professional. She is reliable and meticulous in her approach to her work. She is unfailingly punctual, and arrives with a plan. After having Alana as my own personal trainer, I also reached out to her to help me with a very special person in my life. My mother was 83 years old and had just undergone surgery for a giant paraesophageal hiatal hernia. Her recovery from the surgery merely succeeded in making her extremely weak and unable to care for herself. We tried several rehabilitation efforts but none of them were successful in making her a strong, independent, individual again. I then asked Alana if she would take on the challenge of working with my mother to try to give her the strength that she needs to maintain a fairly independent lifestyle.

Believe me when I tell you that I credit Alana for saving my mom's life. With Alana's help, my mother transitioned from someone who required virtually round-the-clock care to someone who can now dress herself, feed herself, and exercise, with Alana, three days a week. The transition was miraculous. I firmly believe that my mother's successful recovery was due to Alana's caring attitude, her genuine interest in making my mother better, her dedication to my mother's recovery and safety, and her own personal research into effective geriatric rehabilitation.

It is with Alana's efforts that my mother is now able to live, again, with a quality of life that, I believe, is even superior to the quality of life that she had before her surgery three years ago.

I sought the services of a personal trainer in order to achieve a set of very specific goals. I needed to become strong and I needed to achieve that strength safely. Alana listened to me carefully and thoughtfully. She demonstrated both a mastery of exercise physiology and strong analytical skills to help me achieve my goals. Because of her attention and skill I have, from the first session with her, felt safe on complicated and unfamiliar equipment.

Alana has always known just how far and how fast to push. Physical fitness has always been a big part of my life and especially aerobic exercise. During the past few years, I have attempted weight training. However, in contrast to swimming and biking, I have been inconsistent in motivating myself to work with weights since it has been boring, caused minor injuries and has not yielded significant results. I have hired several professional trainers but none have met my needs and requirements…until three months ago.
